Jason Hughes Hustles to 39th Annual Spooker Victory
By: Ben Shelton
Westville, Oklahoma (10/30/18) – Jason Hughes overcame Mother Nature and a stout field of 41 Modifieds over the weekend to capture the top prize in the 39th annual Spooker in his Henryetta Ford #12 Murphrey Oil Company/ Red Tail Tackle/ Hughes Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Modified. The triumph was worth $2,500.
The win was both his second of the year and his second of the season at the sprawling, clay oval located in Pocola, Oklahoma.
“Mother Nature and a ton of racecars made for a long weekend for all of the racers, fans, and staff, but it definitely made it more bearable to get the win,” Hughes commented. “There were a lot of good cars there, but our car was flawless all weekend. Thanks to my team, my sponsors, and my fans for their continued support. We’ll look ahead to Vegas now, and hopefully we can go out there and win that deal for the first time.”
The weekend’s action found Jason Hughes returning to the Open Wheel Modified ranks for the 39th annual Spooker at Tri-State Speedway (Pocola, Oklahoma).
With 41 cars on hand, Hughes passed four cars in his heat to pick up the 10-lap heat race victory on Friday evening. Earning the pole position for Saturday night’s main event, Jason wired the field to top Tanner Mullens, Tyler Wolff, Jared Russell, and Lonnie Robins at the line en route to his second win of the season.
