The FAST® Power Rankings Presented by COMP Cams® USMTS/USRA Power Rankings
By: Sam Stoecklin
It's 14 and 10 on this week's edition of the USMTS/USRA FAST® Power Rankings Presented by COMP Cams. That's 14 weeks overall and 10th week in 2018 in the number one position for newly crowned USMTS Champion Johnny Scott! After beginning his weekend with a 15th victory on the season Friday at the Fall Jamboree, 'J' Scott notched a solid top-five for the weekend finale and retains his stronghold at the top of the rankings once again.
However, Johnny did not sweep all the number one placements by our voting staff this week as 2018 Jamboree Champion Rodney Sanders made his way to number one on a third of our voter's sheets, keeping him firmly in the number two position after yet another big-money victory in a crown jewel event.
Third this week is USRA champion-bound driver Darron Fuqua. Although Fuqua started the week a bit under the weather, he finished it off with another weekly USRA victory and elevated his total win count on the season at various tracks to well into the twenties after taking his second victory of the season at I-35 Speedway on Saturday.
Moving up one position this week is Stormy Scott, who finished second to his brother yet again to start off the Deer Creek events on Friday night before logging another solid top-three effort to cap off the weekend. At number five this week is Lucas Schott, who never really seemed to get in a groove at the 'Creek posting finishes of 14th and 24th.
Finishing out this week's top ten at number six is Jake O'Neil, who moved from 30th on Friday to finish third before struggling on Saturday well outside the top 20. Zack VanderBeek finished fifth in the Jamboree on Saturday and holds at number seven on the rankings just ahead of idle driver C.A. Nix in eighth. Terry Phillips rebounds to the top ten this week at number nine while Dereck Ramirez clings onto the top ten in the 10th position after struggling at 'the Creek
This week's Prime Mover is R.C. Whitwell who vaults up the rankings from number 18 to number 11 this week. Whitwell found himself inside the top 10 in both a-main finishes during the Jamboree events. Brad Waits re-enters the top 20 this week at number 12. Waits was 11th on Friday night to start off an outstanding weekend in which he ultimately finished a tick behind eventual winner Rodney Sanders to finish second in Saturday's Jamboree big dance!
Bumper Jones took another step towards wrapping up the Southern New Mexico Speedway championship last weekend after collecting his third win of the season there on Saturday. Jones is a re-entry on this week's countdown as a result of his efforts reappearing at position 16. The final re-entry of the week is Ryan Gilmore, the former USRA National B-Mod champ collected his sixth Modified victory of the season in a special appearance by Modifieds at Lebanon Midway Speedway in Missouri.
Exiting the top 20 this week are Triston Dycus, Tanner Mullens, and Troy Taylor. All total, 36 drivers earned recognition from our voters this week. Drivers falling shy of the top 20 but earning votes included Jake Gallardo, Jake Timm, Tanner Mullens, Austin Siebert, Jason Hughes, Triston Dycus, Dustin Sorensen, Nate Wasmund, Brandon Davis, Mark Schafman, Fito Gallardo, Lance Town, Troy Taylor, Travis Saurer, Philip Houston, and Trevor Latham.
If  you missed any of the Fall Jamboree, don't fret as has you covered with a complete video capture of the entire weekend, which is found under our On-Demand video section. USMTS drivers will sit idle through the month of October but will return the first weekend of October for a trip to Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas for the Southern Nationals. TOMS drivers are off until a September 29th visit to Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Remaining events this weekend for USRA competitors include a two-day special at Chateau Speedway, weekly event at I-35 Speedway, the two-day Winter Nationals at Lawton Speedway, weekly show at Southern New Mexico Speedway on Saturday, and a two-day special event at Mason City Motor Speedway.
