The FAST® Power Rankings Presented by COMP Cams® USMTS/USRA Power Rankings
By: Sam Stoecklin
It's a relatively quiet week on the latest edition of the USMTS/USRA FAST® Power Rankings Presented by COMP Cams. Despite a week off from the road, Rodney Sanders holds firm at the number one position enjoying his third week at the top this year and 55th overall week at the top since Power Rankings began.
Sanders' recent performances in the two high-profile events (Cedar Lake/I-80) was more than enough for our voters to place him at number one in front of Johnny Scott, also idle for the weekend and once again taking the number two position. 'J' Scott's 18 top-five's and eight victories on the USMTS tour keep him on an even pace with Sanders for Driver of the Year honors.
Darron Fuqua inches back up to number three this week to lead the weekly racing contingent. Fuqua continues to dominate the USRA point's realm with 14 victories on the season and was most recently runner-up behind Tyler Wolff at Lucas Oil Speedway last weekend.
Stormy Scott slips one position to number four this week. Stormy has put together a solid year so far and is by no means out of the picture. He has four USMTS wins so far along with 13 top-five finishes on the tour. Rounding out the top five this week is Zack VanderBeek. The Z-Man is also a four-time winner on tour this season and has racked up ten top-five's along the way.
Tyler Wolff is the prime mover of the week with a jump from 15 last week to number eight this week. Wolff picked up a victory at Lucas Oil on Saturday after rain moved into his territory in Oklahoma. Brad Waits returns to top 20 in a big way this week blasting in at number 12 on the heels of his third win of the year at Mississippi Thunder on Friday and top-three run on Saturday at Deer Creek Speedway.
Another re-entry this week is Dustin Sorensen who ran to a top-five at the recently reopened Chateau Raceway on Friday before heading to the 'Creek to pick up his second win of the season there on Saturday. Other re-entries this week include Jake Timm with back-to-back top-tens in the north country, Logan Robertson after taking the Route 66 victory, and Terry Schultz, who picked up his fifth $1,000-to-win weekly victory at Central Missouri Speedway.
Triston Dycus, Cade Dillard, Casey Arneson, Jason Hughes, and Troy Taylor slide out of the top 20 this week. Missing out on the top 20 this week but earning votes were Troy Taylor, Bo Day, Hamilton County winner J.D. Auringer, Carlos Ahumada, Jr., Triston Dycus, Southern New Mexico winner Jake Gallardo, I-35 winner Robbie Reed, Casey Arneson, Nic Bidinger, Cade Dillard, Jason Hughes, Lance Town ,Jacob Bleess, Dee Gossett, and Fito Gallardo.
The USMTS/USRA FAST® Power Rankings Presented by COMP Cams will return again next Wednesday morning as we reveal and all-new top 20. The USMTS kicks off a three-day weekend later this week while the TOMS series heads to Southern Oklahoma Speedway. USRA weekly racers will continue their pursuit of weekly racing series points.
