This weekend promises to be exciting for the stars of the Casey's General Stores USMTS with a trio of events at places not terribly familiar to the majority of the series regulars. Friday action starts at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas and Saturday it shifts to Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma. Sunday all eyes move further west towards Creek County Speedway in Sapula, Oklahoma and the inaugural stop by USMTS to the quarter-mile facility.
Further making the stop interesting is the promotional debut by Claremore, Oklahoma's Joe Duvall. Duvall is a partner on the event and it has allowed him to dip his toe into the business of racing on the opposite side of the fence than he is accustomed.
"It started over the winter when Bryan Hulbert and I were talking about racing and he said USMTS should run at Creek County and it kind of put my wheels in motion."
The speedway just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma is owned by legendary promoter Emmitt Hahn, owner of the ASCS Sprint Car Series and co-founder of the Chili Bowl.
"I talked to Steve Hahn, Emmitt's son and he talked to Emmitt and they were all for it. We just had to agree on a date that worked for them and the USMTS too."
With the USMTS running fewer events this season, they were also looking for a few new markets and this particular one has a rabid fan base.
Building on his commitment as "The Racer's Car Dealer" Henryetta, Oklahoma businessman and racer Shannon Scott is pitching in as the events presenting sponsor, with his Henryetta Ford dealership. Henryetta Ford specializes in new and pre-owned Ford Cars, Trucks and SUV's. All new Ford vehicles receive free oil changes and tire rotations for the life of the purchase.
They also offer nearly 100% approvals on financing. The dealership is open six days a week on site and 24 hours a day and seven days a week at HenryettaFord.com.
Action starts Sunday night at 7:00 PM, with the gates at 5:00 PM. Lucas Oil NOW 600 mini sprints are also on the docket.
There's a lot sentimental to Duvall about Sunday's event.
"I started racing at Creek County in 1986 in cars and on motorcycles. With my current schedule I don't get to race around home very often so I'm really looking forward to this. We're in the entertainment business and I'm excited to help put on a show for all the great fans!"
RacinDirt will have all three of the weekend's events LIVE if you can't attend in person.
