Lucas Schott and RC Whitwell rolled from the front row, but the night belonged to Stormy Scott. He took command of the feature in his Vanderbuilt Race Car and never looked back securing his 46th USMTS win.

Gettin the Dirt: Scott knocks down Canyon opener
Johnny Scott quickly got out front and was never passed. Rodney Sanders pushed forward from sixth and pulled to Scott's bumper late. The win for Scott is his 33rd with the USMTS and third on the tour thus far in 2018.

Friday marked the qualifying rounds for 82 USMTS competitors and a full program for the 45 Outpace USRA Iron Man B-Mods. Each USMTS driver took part in a pair of heat races to determine the overall total passing points.

Gettin the Dirt: Scott outduels Dillard for Whynot checkers
Saturday's feature was contested caution free. Jason Krohn and Bo Day set the pace, but the race was between Stormy Scott and Cade Dillard. Once Scott got out front he was passed by Dillard who was running the top line of the speedway. Dillard bobbled late in three and four giving the lead back to Scott who held on for his first USMTS win of the season.

Getin the Dirt: Lee's misfortune benefits VanderBeek
Lucas Lee started on the outside of the front row, for the main event, and settled into second prior to getting around Stormy Scott. Once in post race tech it was discovered Lee had an engine setback violation, resulting in a disqualification. VanderBeek was declared the race's winner.

Gettin the Dirt: Dotson scores first USMTS win
Sanders continued to lead with Dotson in tow until the white flag flew and Sanders noticeably slowed, allowing Dotson to pull to his rear bumper. Dotson dove under Sanders as they exited the final turn as Rodney slowed. Dotson was able to cross the finish line first by 0.781 seconds for the 19 year old’s first career USMTS victory.

The fourth annual Battle at the Bullring kicked off at The Hummer with night one action including B-Mods and NASCAR Modifieds. A solid field of 120 B-Mods competed in two rounds of heat races to set the stage for overall passing points.

Gettin The Dirt: Johnny Scott sweeps South Texas Speedway
Johnny Scott backed up his great run Friday with a second race winning performance in as many days. Starting second, he was running there when race leader and polesitter Bobby Malchus drew a yellow on lap 17. From that point on it was smooth sailing for Scott who was never seriously challenged for the lead.

Gettin the Dirt: Johnny Scott scores USMTS opener in Corpus Christi
Rodney Sanders and Jon Mitchell led the field to the first green of the season. Sanders pulled away through several yellows and looked to be the dominant car. However, with four laps to go he slowed on the backstretch after losing a driveshaft. Johnny Scott assumed the lead and held on for the win.
