(May 8, 2013) Drivers competing in ULMA-sanctioned action have only competed one time in six attempts this year but things are set to change in a big way this weekend as the Lucas Cattle Company ULMA season heads into a triple race weekend at all three affiliated tracks.
On Friday, Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri tries for the fifth-consecutive week to begin its season after four straight weather cancellations. Last year, current point’s leader Jason Russell of Henley, Missouri, raced to victory lane on eight occasions on his way to the overall title. Chris Lapp also recorded multiple victories at the track last season and is expected to contend again this year. In addition, Justin Russell, former track champion Vance Wilson, Zeke Langley, and Todd McCoin are all expected to compete. Check out Callaway Raceways online by heading over to www.callawayraceways.com for track information and event start times.

Stepping out lately hasn’t included much racing thanks to a confused Jet Stream and in watching the forecast for the next few days it appears as though none of us will get to step out for any racing this weekend. In fact, while finishing this article I received word that ULMA action at Callaway Raceways in Fulton for Friday night was once again canceled.
Earlier in the week I was trying to figure out what to write about and to be perfectly honest I was drawing a blank. Doing a piece on tire-gate and all the pending fines and penalties was drawing a lot of attention lately, maybe a write-up on that subject would work, surely it would have got a few clicks for team RacinDirt. However, that subject area is a bit oversaturated in storyland right now and rightfully so. I honestly believe the racing fraternity realizes something needs to be addressed; however, I believe any addressing of the situation needs to come from the right folks if you know what I mean?
A couple days passed and still I was searching for a topic, but hark, in popped a new email message from Susan Walls. Yes that Susan Walls, half of the 18-year owner/promoter team of the now defunct Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). It had been a while since I heard from Susan, well over a month actually. In fact, the last time I had any communication with the Walls was when I wrote to them to let them know that our gang of wannabe promoters was not going to be able to pull off the two or three races we had hoped to get off the ground at the track this year.
