Kansas City, KS – Friday, May 17, 2013 – Mother Nature finally played nice with Lakeside Speedway this past week allowing for a dynamite super fast track.  The track led to side by side high line and low line competition all evening long.
 
The first feature event of the night began with the always exciting always competitive Factory Stocks.  A first lap crash entering turn 3 created another double file restart.  On the restart Brett Heeter jumped to the lead.  He was never pressured as the race went green to checkered on the second restart.  Finishing in second was Brett’s brother-in-law Justin Siefert.
 
The second feature of the evening involved the top 24 cars of the B Mod class.  Thirty seven cars began the night in competition.  The guess was who would lead Lap one, Gene Claxton or Aaron Marrant.  To everyone’s surprise the young kid, Rodney Schweizer driving his number 74 machine powered to the front and stayed in that position until Lap 8.  The Hall of Fame Legend Gene Claxton produced an old fashioned slide job on the kid entering turn 3 to take the lead.  Last week’s winner Chad Clancy made a late race rush to power close to Claxton but to no avail as Claxton brought home the win.
 
The third 15 lap feature brought out the always tough always exciting Grand National class.  Tim Shields decided early this was his night as he took the point and even with challengers Tony Brown and Gary Donaldson nipping at his back bumper, Shields powered away for the win.  Brown suffered a late race mishap and Donaldson allowed the pink Cadillac of Marshall Jewett to singshot by for second place.
 
 
Nic Bidinger loves the front row and loves a dry smooth track as he led all 25 laps.  However he had to survive challenges from Darron Fuqua on several occasions as Fuqua would use the low line to pull even.  Marrant and Tim Karrick were also putting on a race as they were side by side, one low one high with Karrick claiming this battle for third.    Bidinger held off the Fuqua express to claim his second Lakeside victory in as many weeks.
 
“Racing on the River’s Edge” continues every Friday night through October with the USRA A-Modifieds, Grand Nationals, USRA B-Modifieds and Factory Stocks.  Gates open at 5:00pm, hot laps at 6:45pm, and the first race gets under way at 7:30pm.  Adult ticket prices are $12.00, kids 7-12 $6.00, and children 6 and younger admitted FREE. Senior Citizen’s and military personnel with ID are admitted for $10.

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 20) – The mud-slinging machines of the United States Modified Touring Series are revving up for four big events during the Memorial Day Weekend to close the month of May.

All four USMTS Casey’s Cup Series events will award points in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports with a possible $17,000 to win during the 100-hour stretch.

The swing kicks off on Wednesday, May 22, at the I-35 Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, for the 4th Annual USMTS Battle of Cerro Gordo presented by Ruter Farms and Schukei Chevrolet. Gates open at 5:30 and hot laps begin at 7:00 with racing to follow. Sport Mods will also be part of the program.

On race day, fans can pick up a discount card good for $2 off adult admission at all five Casey’s General Stores locations in Mason City.

On Thursday, May 23, action moves to the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn., for the 6th Annual USMTS Spring Spectacular presented by JH Larson Events and Buckey's Sales. Gates open at 5:30 with hot laps at 7:00 and racing to follow. Also on the racing card will be the Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods presented by Bud Light.

On race day, fans can pick up a discount card good for $2 off adult admission at both Casey’s General Stores locations in Fairmont.

The Fairmont Raceway is a high-banked half-mile dirt oval located 1.0 mile south of I-90 (exit 99) on CR 39 (at the Martin County Fairgrounds). for more information call 507-382-4531 or surf on over to www.fairmontraceway.com.

Head east on I-90 on Friday and you'll find the mighty USMTS Modifieds circling the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn., for the 6th Annual Mike Guttormson Memorial presented by Tiny’s Body Shop and Powder Werks. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30 with hot laps at 7:00 and racing to follow. Also on the card will be USRA B-Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks.

On race day, fans can pick up a discount card good for $2 off adult admission at Casey’s General Stores locations in Austin and Blooming Prairie.

The Chateau Raceway is a semi-banked one-third-mile gumbo clay oval located 5.0 miles north of Austin on US 218 (Lansing Exit), then 1.3 miles east on CR 2, then 0.4 mile south on CR 25, then 0.3 mile east on 266th St. For more information call 507-391-2486 or check out www.chateauraceway.net online.

The fourth and final night happens Saturday, May 25, with the first visit this season to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the 11th Annual A&A Electric and Underground Spring Challenge. Also on the racing card will be the Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods. Gates open at 3:00 with racing at 6:00.
